TIME PERIOD: Late 1970's
LOCATION: All around the USA!!!!!!!
Around the late 1970's the largest scenes were located in Miami, San Francisco, and most prominently New York City. The DJ's would blast the music through PA systems, and would play long single records in order to keep the clubbers "dancing all night long." Some of the most high popular disco clubs would feature elaborate lighting fixtures of which would beam to the beat of the music. In the month of October in 1975 the most notable discos were identified as "Leviticus" in New York City, "The Library" in Atlanta, and "Studio One" in Los Angeles. One club in particular known as "Studio 54 played a major role in the growth of nightclub music as well as the growth of the disco fad!!!!
DANCING IN DISCO!!!!!!!
- In the early years of the Disco phenomena, dancers would take a "hang loose" approach to their movements. Popular disco dances included "the bump" "the boogaloo" "the penguin" "the watergate" and the "robot"
The best part about these vintage disco bars is that, after all these years, some of them still do exist. I remember my dad pointing out to me one bar on our way to grandma’s house (I forgot the name) and he told me that that is the place where he used to go party with his friends during their time. :D Haha! I wonder how the place looked like in the past and how it does right now.
