GO-GO DANCING!!!!!
TIME PERIOD: 1960's
LOCATION: New York City
- Originating at the Peppermint Lounge, the era of go-go dancing arose when women at the lounge would get up on the tables and dance the Twist. Many of these women would wear Go-Go boots , and considering the number of these women was so high,  bartenders would start to hire them as entertainment for the regular costumers.

- The dancers were called go-go dancers, based on the phrase "go-go-go" for a high energy person (influenced by the french word  à gogo meaning "galore" or "in abundance", as well as the earlier french word la gogue, meaning "happiness" or "joy".)
